The Crown He Places

There are certain questions that linger longer than expected.

This was one of them.

On what or whom do you find yourself depending for affirmation? What defines your worth?

If I answer honestly...I can see seasons of my life where the answer was quietly… other people.

A kind comment could carry me for hours.

Silence could make me wonder if something was wrong.

And criticism... even small criticism...had a way of echoing in my mind long after the moment had passed.

Maybe you know that feeling.

Someone’s tone changes in a conversation.

A text comes back shorter than usual.

Or someone doesn’t respond at all.

And suddenly your mind starts replaying everything that was said.

Did I say too much?

Did I handle that wrong?

Are they disappointed in me?

And before long, their opinion starts shaping how you see yourself.

I don’t think we do this on purpose.

I think it just happens quietly over time.

We begin measuring our worth by reactions.

Approval becomes comforting. Disapproval becomes unsettling.

But the problem with building your identity there is that people are human.

Their moods change.

Their perceptions change.

Their opinions change.

Which means if our worth depends on those things, it will always feel a little unstable.

Lately I’ve been thinking about what Scripture teaches about our position in Christ’s kingdom. The language of royalty shows up more often than we might notice.

Words like chosen, beloved, heirs.

Not because we earned the title.

Simply because He chose us.

And something about that truth steadies the heart.

When we begin to believe that our identity is already settled in Him, other voices start to lose their authority.

Not completely, of course.

We’re human. Hurtful words can still sting.

Misunderstandings still ache.

But they no longer get the final say.

Sometimes when I think about this, a picture forms in my mind.

Imagine standing in a room where everyone is talking about you. Some voices are kind. Some are critical. Some are confused. Some are disappointed.

The noise can feel overwhelming.

And then Christ quietly walks into the room.

He doesn’t argue with the crowd. He doesn’t raise His voice over them. Instead, He walks toward you and gently places a crown on your head.

And He says, You are mine.

The room doesn’t suddenly go silent.

But something changes.

Because once the King has spoken, the other voices don’t carry the same weight.

I think that is part of what it means to see God in the details of everyday life. Not always in the big moments, but in the quiet reminders of who we are to Him.

Chosen.

Loved.

Already claimed.

And perhaps the more we remember the crown He places, the less power the crowd will ever have.

Hi there, I’m Amber—the voice behind this blog. I’m a seeker, a listener, and someone who loves helping others find deeper connection and meaning in the everyday moments of life.

I believe that God is present in all our moments, even the quiet, messy ones, and that our growth often happens in the places we least expect. Whether it’s through a whisper, a feeling, or an unexpected pause, I’m constantly learning to tune in and recognize His presence, even in the chaos of life.

When I’m not writing, you’ll likely find me exploring new ideas, spending time with my family, or just reflecting on the ways I can grow and help others do the same. I’m passionate about faith, growth, and helping you navigate life’s ups and downs with grace, honesty, and a whole lot of heart.

I’m so glad you’re here. I hope my words offer some peace, encouragement, and a sense of connection as you journey through your own path.
